Rob Patton, the FCEDC’s Executive Vice President, spent the first week of March in familiar territory in Seoul, South Korea at the InterBattery Show. Rob, a retired Army Colonel, was stationed in South Korea early in his military career and was excited to head back for the first time in almost thirty years.

The InterBattery Show, first launched in 2013, is Korea’s leading battery exhibition showcasing various new products and technologies related to the battery industry. It brings in over 475 exhibitors and more than 61,000 attendees from across the globe, showcasing the newest technologies in EV batteries, lithium-ion batteries and capacitors, positive and negative electrode materials, manufacturing equipment, and more. Attendees represented many different industries, including automotive, manufacturing, energy, and logistics and distribution.

The FCEDC attended the InterBattery show as part of the delegation from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), and we are always grateful for the opportunity to work with them. Partnering with a statewide organization brings the FCEDC greater name recognition than we’d have if .we attended alone. International attendees may know of North Carolina, but may be less familiar with the city of Fayetteville. Our partnership with EDPNC gave us access to translation services, networking opportunities in and around the show, and allowed us to build upon relationships they are fostering worldwide. Rob also had the opportunity to meet with the US Ambassador to South Korea, Ambassador, Philip Goldberg, and share the many great things happening in our area.

We have another international show planned later this summer in Europe. Where do you think we’ll end up next?
