On December 5th, the Greater Fayetteville Business Journal gathered some of the most intriguing people of the year to serve as panelists for the final Power Breakfast of 2024. Robert Van Geons, the President & CEO of FCEDC, was joined on stage by Scott Dorney, Executive Director of the North Carolina Military Business Center, Phil Harris, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Sandhills Chapter, and Mary Holmes, President & CEO of the Cumberland Community Foundation.

Over 200 local officials, business leaders, and community members attended breakfast, which was held at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden. Attendees got a greater insight into the operations of some of the area’s key organizations and the people who lead them.  Phil Harris shared about Red Cross’s efforts to help Western North Carolinians and hurricane clean-up efforts and how they impact the community locally. Scott Dorney told attendees about the wide-reaching efforts of the Military Business Center. Mary Holmes shared that Fayetteville is one of the most generous communities in the state, and explains how CCF makes an impact through donor-advised funds. Robert Van Geons explained what goes into an economic development project, and what companies look for as they explore our communities for business opportunities.

Faith Hatton, the Editor of the Greater Fayetteville Business Journal, facilitated a conversation.
