Fayetteville Cumberland Economic Development Corporation’s CEO and President Robert Van Geons is traveling internationally – and braving sweltering heat – to promote Fayetteville and Cumberland County to global industry leaders in real estate, defense, and aerospace.

Van Geons was in Dublin last week for the Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS® International European Conference. SIOR is the leading professional association connecting and representing commercial and industrial real estate professionals. SIOR operates as 47 geographical chapters, with over 3,600 members including 3,200 designates and 200 affiliates, representing organizations in 45 countries worldwide. At the event, Van Geons had the opportunity to network with outstanding commercial brokerage specialists from all over the world.

This week, Van Geons is in southwest London for the Farnborough International Air Show featuring the likes of Boeing, Airbus, and Lockheed Martin. For decades, the event has been the global platform for the aerospace and defense industry. Meeting for the first time since the COVID pandemic began, the five-day show focuses on key industry themes. In addition to space and defense, these include sustainability, innovation, future flight, and workforce.

The event aligns with FCEDC’s mission of helping drive the expansion of Fayetteville Regional Airport through the marketing of airport-adjacent development sites and by increasing awareness of our diverse community. “Fayetteville and Cumberland County are home to dozens of companies with global operations and offer the perfect landing pads for international businesses,” Van Geons said. “Events like these are an excellent way to let the world know about the outstanding opportunities we have to offer.”
