Amazon to Announce First Cumberland County Delivery Station

Facility will create hundreds of jobs and enhance delivery experience for Amazon customers in greater Fayetteville area

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) is pleased to announce Amazon’s plans to launch a delivery station at 1005 Dunn Road in Fayetteville. The facility is expected to launch sometime next year and will create hundreds of new jobs, paying a starting wage of $15 per hour and offering a variety of benefits on the first day of employment.

The facility will power Amazon’s last-mile delivery capabilities to speed up deliveries for customers in the region. Packages are transported to delivery stations from Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers, and then loaded into vehicles for delivery to customers.

“We are excited to welcome a Fortune 100 company like Amazon to our community,” said Mitch Colvin, mayor of the City of Fayetteville. “This substantial investment exemplifies our community’s resurgence as our economy continues to recover from the effects of Covid-19. We are open for business and poised for growth.”

Delivery stations also offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to build their own business delivering Amazon packages, as well as independent contractors the flexibility to be their own boss and create their own schedule delivering for Amazon Flex. “Amazon is excited to expand operations into Cumberland County, North Carolina, investing in a new delivery station in Fayetteville,” said Courtney Johnson Norman, Amazon Spokesperson. “We are committed to providing efficient delivery for customers and creating hundreds of jobs for the talented workforce in the area.”

“These jobs could be a good fit for students, stay-at-home parents, military spouses, and those looking for additional income or to build a resume,” said County Commission Chairman Charles Evans. “This project will also support third party jobs in trucking, shipping, and logistics. We wish Amazon the warmest of welcomes and hope that this is just the beginning of things to come.”

“Part of a new breed of centers, this project will reduce shipping times for businesses and residents, while anchoring the company’s presence in our region,” explained Robert Van Geons, FCEDC president and CEO. “We are thrilled that Amazon is joining our business community and selecting us for this new type of operation.”
