FCEDC Hosts ECU NCCED Course
This week, the Fayetteville Cumberland Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) partnered with East Carolina University’s North Carolina Certified Economic Developer (NCCED) Attraction Course to host a two-day program in Fayetteville and Cumberland County. The course welcomed thirteen economic development professionals from across the state to explore best practices in business recruitment and existing industry retention.
The program began with a comprehensive tour of the community, highlighting key assets that contribute to the region’s competitiveness. The first stop was Fayetteville Technical Community College, where participants learned about the institution’s critical role in workforce training and development. The group then visited Downtown Fayetteville, experiencing quality-of-life amenities including the Airborne & Special Operations Museum, Segra Stadium, the Arts Council, and a variety of local shops and restaurants.
The day concluded at the Fayetteville Regional Airport, where participants toured the newly renovated terminal, discussed future international expansion plans, and observed airport operations firsthand.
On the second day, the class convened at FCEDC’s new building for a half-day session led by Crystal Morphis, focused on strategic insights and best practices in economic development.
“We were proud to host ECU’s NCED Attraction Course and showcase the strengths of our community,” said FCEDC President and CEO Robert Van Geons. “We look forward to welcoming additional organizations to utilize our new facility as a hub for training, collaboration, and professional development.”
