A 35-acre tract located on Old Raeford Road is set to become the location for the Department of Veterans Affairs new 250,000 square foot VA Medical Center, providing care to the men and women who have selflessly served in the United States Armed Forces. The VA Medical Center is one of seven approved for a new facility to support the rapid growth in Veterans population.

The new VA Medical Center will house a total of 16 primary care clinics and 20 specialty care clinics. Outpatient clinics are located at the VA’s primary location on Ramsey Street, and on Village Drive at the Village Green Primary Care Annex.

Upon completion of construction, the new $120 million medical facility will be able to combine all outpatient services to one location, allowing the Ramsey street location to become, once again, an inpatient hospital. Every patient allotted a private room and bath, and giving the Ramsey Street location an opportunity to expand current inpatient services.

In an interview with The Fayetteville Observer, Fayetteville VA Director Elizabeth Goolsby said “…the architectural plans have been drawn up, and solicitations for a contractor have gone out.” Goolsby states she is hopeful that construction for the new facility will begin before the end of the year.
