FCEDC Welcomes Maarja Hightower as Director of Communications

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) is pleased to announce that Maarja Hightower, CAE, has joined the staff as the new Director of Communications, with the goal of championing the organization’s communications, events and PR efforts at the local, state, national and international levels.

Hightower joins FCEDC with more than 17 years of experience spearheading communications and marketing initiatives for national and global organizations. She previously worked as the Director of Marketing and Membership for BICSI, a global professional association advancing the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. Hightower holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Contemporary Media and Journalism from the University of South Dakota and a Master of Business Administration degree in Leadership and Organizational Theory from the University of South Florida. Hightower also achieved the Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in 2010.

FCEDC President and CEO Robert Van Geons stated, “Maarja’s depth of experience and knowledge in communications, association management and events will enhance our talented team and serve us well in telling our community’s unique and authentic story.”
