FCEDC Houses Patriots Path’s “Post Military Transitions Course”
The FCEDC was proud to host Patriots Path last week, a military personnel support program. Patriots Path is a nonprofit program based in Charlotte. It is designed to assist service members in the transition to career life as civilians.
Rob Patton, our Executive Vice President, and a military retiree himself had some meaningful words to share. “We are fortunate to have Ft. Bragg, the world’s largest military installation, as our neighbor. Every year, approximately 7,000 of America’s finest separate from the service. We feel that it is our duty and obligation to assist these Great Americans in their transition to civilian work. Organizations like Patriots Path are a natural fit for us, as we work to tackle talent retention and veteran unemployment,” said Patton.
Patriots Path provides its students with insight into the civilian hiring process, advice on networking, and assistance navigating the job market. They also provide instruction on how military duties can transfer into the civilian workplace.
Noël Humphreys McCall, Executive Director of Patriots Path, spoke to the value found in FCEDC’s contributions. She stated, “This has been a great opportunity and partnership. We’ve had such great support from the staff and really enjoyed being in the heart of Fayetteville. It’s nice for folks to get off post, out of their uniform, and into a suit. They’re able to be fully immersed in the process. It is also vital that they understand how an economic development group functions within a community, and how important that is,” said McCall.
The FCEDC is grateful for the opportunity to support Patriots Path and the great work that they do.
