Blue Cross Blue Shield Announcement
The Economic Development Alliance of Fayetteville and Cumberland County, North Carolina, is pleased to announce that Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina will be locating a regional service center in Fayetteville.
According to BCBSNC, the center is expected to bring over 100 jobs by mid-2015, with about 50 by the end of 2014. Hiring will begin over the 2014 summer.
“We are thrilled to have Blue Cross Blue Shield bringing this center to Fayetteville,” said Chris Bostock, Chairman of The Alliance Board of Advisors. “It’s wonderful to see our workforce being recognized as a valuable asset to such recognizable brands.”
The regional service center is expected to open by the end of 2014. A site has not been selected yet, but BCBSNC said they expect to have that selection made soon. The center will join with current centers in Durham and Winston-Salem.
“We are excited to have Blue Cross Blue Shield choose our community for the location of their new service center,” said Jeannette Council, Chair of the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners. “Cumberland County is pleased to have such a quality company adding quality jobs.”
According to the BCBSNC release, Fayetteville was selected “because of its available workforce – including veterans, military spouses and other skilled workers – local educational institutions and competitively priced properties.”
The jobs are expected to be full-time positions with benefits.
“I want to express my sincere appreciation for the selection of our great City of History, Heroes and a Hometown Feeling as home to a new branch of Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina,” said Nat Robertson, Mayor of the City of Fayetteville. “Today’s announcement represents a step forward for our community by bringing new jobs and economic opportunities to our residents. We are excited to welcome Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina to Fayetteville.”
